Immigration officials said a man who they said tried to evade arrest and lost control of his vehicle before it came to a stop atop two other cars was in stable condition as of Friday they said Sunday.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents were conducting a stop on the west side of Detroit on Thursday during an enforcement operation, the Department of Homeland Security said.

"As officers attempted the stop, the suspect immediately dangerously tried to evade arrest and struck three government vehicles, pinning an ICE officer’s leg in the car door," DHS said.

"The suspect continued on before losing control of his vehicle and crashing through a fence and a garage before the vehicle came to a stop on top of two other vehicles."

An ICE officer and the suspect were transported to hospitals for treatment.

DHS did not identify the suspect but WXYZ-TV (Channel 7), after talking to family members, identified him as Mohammad Abdessamed. The family told WXYZ Abdessamed lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a garage on Whitlock Avenue and Warwick Street on Thursday. His family said he was impaled by a pole from a fence and was rushed in critical condition to a hospital.

The family told WXYZ they had not received word as of Friday of Abdessamed's condition or what hopital he was taken to.
